VIDEO: Moi University Lecturers Strikes Over Unpaid Salaries

Learning was disrupted at Moi University, Eldoret on Monday 25th October after lecturers took to the streets to protest over unpaid salaries.

According to one unionist, the teaching staff had not been paid for the last three months while the school's farm workers were yet to receive their 13 months salary.

"We are here today because we want to get justice. As it is, the donkey is tired enough is enough," one of the unionists stated.

The lecturers demanded that the government pay attention to their issues or they would not return to class.

The tutors wanted an audience with University Vice-Chancellor Isaac Kosgey, claiming that he owed them an explanation for why they had not been paid.

On the other hand, they requested that the University's leadership be removed with immediate effect.

The police were later compelled to intervene to get the situation under control.
