The officers at the Moi Barracks Recruits Training School in Eldoret were on high alert against recruits who submit fake documents to join the service. A total of  55 youth were identified to possess fake documents and have been detained.

"The ones who were nabbed were from different parts of the country. It is likely we will catch more as they continue reporting," Chief recruiting officerBrigadier, Peter Muteti affirmed.

In early 2021, the KDF recruitment conducted reported attempts of bribery with recruits willing to pay up to Kh500,000 to get a slot. Those who were spotted got arrested.

"Whenever there's a recruitment drive, people allege that they pay bribes from Ksh 300,000, with some senior officers demanding up to Ksh 700,000 to enlist recruits into the military. This is not only criminal but a threat to our national security," Senetor Ledama Olekina said in February.

A number of recruits were also eliminated in the recruitment after failing the medical check-up phase due to drug abuse among young people. The Senior Medical Officer Colonel James Mwika urged the successful candidates to be responsible, avoid drug abuse and premarital sex.
