VIDEO: Nairobi Gubernatorial Aspirant Igathe Washes Public Toilet in CBD to Show 'Humility'

Polycarp Igathe, a businessman and politician, has sparked a storm of controversy on social media after a video of him cleaning a public toilet in Nairobi's famed Central Business District [CBD] went viral on Tuesday, June 7th.

In the video, Igathe is heard saying that public toilets must be managed thoroughly and should be available for all residents.

Igathe also added that he was washing the toilet to show Kenyans the dignity that Nairobians would enjoy if he is elected as the next Nairobi governor.

Politicians are known to show their acts of humility and kindness, especially during electioneering periods as a form of public relations.

A section of Kenyans has termed Igathe`s act as Public relations and as a way of seeking Votes from Nairobians.

Igathe is seeking to unseat the current Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu Mwendwa.

In the 2017 general elections, he was elected to the position of Deputy Governor Nairobi City County on the jubilee political party as former Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko`s Running Mate.

However, he later resigned abruptly on 12 January 2018, alleging to lack of trust from his boss Mike Sonko.

In 2022 19th April he announced his candidature to run for Nairobi gubernatorial seat on the Jubilee ticket way late, considering there were other three candidates who are also vying on the same ticket.

Polycarp was nominated to fly the gubernatorial flag for the Azimio-OKA coalition in the August 2022 general election.
