What Next for Kenya after the FIFA Ban?
The recent decision by FIFA to suspend Kenya from all international competitions is still puzzling the local football stakeholders who are shocked by the decision of the governing body over government interference.
FIFA cautioned FKF that unless they comply with the set requirements by them, they will still not be able to engage in activity outside their country.
FIFA had cautioned that the caretaker committee appointed by Cabinet secretary of sports Amina Mohammed be disbanded and elections be held so that new leadership can take over from the embattled Nick Mwendwa led team.
The Ministry had hurriedly appointed the caretaker committee to take charge and replace the earlier team because they did not have faith in them.
The FKF caretaker committee faced a major blow last week when AWCON was called off and players ordered to leave camp because the Nick Mwendwa team wrote a letter to FIFA citing their unavailability to conduct the games.
This is seen as a push and pull between the two sides who disagreed for sometime when former committee was forced out of their offices despite their unending call for elections so that they can be voted out in accordance with FKF rules.
According to Gor Mahia FKF Chairman Ambrose Rachier, the government should speed the FKF up elections and hand over football affairs to the new team that will find a solution with FKF.
The government has not commented on the issue and unless the FKF complies with the requirements by FIFA, their fate is still unknown with teams still witnessing minimal actions and fans still holding hopes that a solution will be found sooner..
