BBI Had a 'Hidden Agenda' Says Musalia Mudavadi

BBI Had a 'Hidden Agenda' Says Musalia Mudavadi

ANC party leader narrated his first encounters with the BBI motion when it was introduced to the Kenyans at the Bomas of Kenya in 2020. He stated that he stood up and defended the country's economic position in the BBI movement. For the success of the BBI document, it had to involve Kenyans equally without discrimination. Mudavadi expressed his opinion and urged the leaders to make changes to the document so that it was more favorable for the common mwananchi.

During the second meeting of the BBI, Musalia explained that the BBI had been corrected but not to the expected level as some changes were ignored especially the ones he had earlier outlined during the first meeting.

A BBI meeting later was held at the State House in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM leader Raila Odinga, FORD-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula, Siaya Senator James Orengo, ANC party leader Musalia Musadavadi among other leaders. In the meeting, Musalia Mudavadi stated that some of the issues had not been addressed in the document. He also questioned the placement of an ombudsman in the Judiciary but all was in vain as no one listened to him. According to him, he raised several issues in order to defend 'Wanjiku'.

"Itakuaje nyinyi mnataka mueke yule anaitwa watchman kwa Judiciary, kwa mahakama...Kitu hiki kitavunja mgogo was BBI," Musalia stated.

According to him, the BBI and the 'handshake' had a hidden agenda which was hidden from Kenyans.

"Hio agenda ya handshake, agenda ya BBI haikua tu kuleta wakenya pamoja, ilikua agenda ya succession," Mudavadi revealed.

Musalia stated that BBI also involved power, authority, and selfishness of the leaders in order for them to benefit in the future.

He also stated that Azimio la Umoja coalition was noted to utilize most of the government's resources.

"Azimio ni kama mradi wa serikali," Mudavadi stated during the online interview.

According to him, there's room for amending the constitution but the rightful process should be used when making the changes. He added that the BBI did not adhere to the rules that were put in place by the law.

He further advised that for any changes to be made to the Kenyan constitution, people and leaders should follow the guidelines and rules that the law has stated.

Mudavadai also revealed that he joined the Kenya Kwanza party since its main agenda was to save the country's economy, enhance youth employment and bring justice to Kenyans.
