Bishop In Court For Defiling Six-Year-Old Girl

On Wednesday, Masinde appeared before Resident Magistrate William Tulel and rejected the charges stating through a lawyer that he was framed due to the girl’s father’s resentment

He requested mercy, claiming that he is a father of six children who rely on him, and that he is not a flight risk because he is a bishop who leads a church.

The incident reportedly occurred inside the bishop’s house. Masinde brought the girl into his house after sending the other children away with money to buy sweets. The little girl was playing with other children playing outside their parents' houses.

He is accused of locking the door, forcefully undressing the girl before allegedly defiling her, then gave her money to silence her.

The other children saw her leave Masinde’s place in a troubled state and reported the matter.

The suspect was then detained by members of the public and handed over to the police when the children raised an alert.

The minor was taken to a hospital for medical examination, treatment and to fill out medical paperwork.

Following denial of the charges the bishop was released after posting a Sh 500,000 bond, his next hearing is set for April 13.
