EACC Rubbishes Claims of Governor Waiguru`s Arrest

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke  a local publication in the country, EACC's spokesman, Yasmin Amaro, rejected the reports, claiming the anti-graft agency had no plans to raid the governor's residence. According to sources, the Integrity Centre raided Waiguru's Kitusuru residence in search of records that could be used in her trial.

He added that the investigation panel had issued a conclusive report on graft-related matters involving the governor and other county authorities.
However, County Chief Finance Officer Mugo Ndathi, Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker Anthony Gathumbi, Leader of the Majority James Murango, and Chairman of the Budget Committee at the County Assembly David Mathenge are among the officials mentioned.

The officials will have to react to questions on economic criminal conspiracies, misuse of office, false accounting, deception, and forgeries.
Mr. Amaro`s statement comes hours after rumors had emerged that Governor Ann Waiguru had been arrested by the EACC over graft.
It also revealed that Documents believed to contain important information had also been confiscated.
