EACC To Arrest Turkana Governor Jeremiah Over Fake Degree

According to EACC, it established that both the Governor's degree and diploma certificates were fake, thus rendering him liable for criminal prosecution.

The Governor, according to the EACC, faked diploma and degree certificates that were allegedly provided by the Kenya Methodist University.

The organization under Twalib Mbarak is currently complaining that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) disregarded their proposal prior to the clearance.

Despite the commission bringing the issue to the electoral body's attention, the EACC claims that Lomorukai was given the go-ahead by the IEBC to run for governor of Turkana.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) reviewed the case and gave the go-ahead for the Governor to be detained and charged.

The Governor, who was elected under the ODM party, will now be charged with forgery in violation of Section 345 as read with 349 of the Penal Code.

He will also be accused of uttering fraudulent documents in violation of section 353 of the Penal Code and providing false information to EACC.

Prior to the elections on August 9, 2022, the EACC identified 241 candidates and submitted their names to the IEBC. The Governor was one of those 241.
