Ministry of Interior and coordination of National Government has declared a dusk-to- dawn curfew in parts of Garissa County citing insecurities.

In a statement to newsroom by the ministry, the ministry has taken the measure to help cutb issues of loss of lives, destruction of property and tensions caused in the area after cases of criminal attacks and land issues have been reported in the area.

According to the ministry also, security agencies have been deployed into the area to help curb issues of insecurity.

Areas affected by the curfew include Bulla othan, Bulla mzuri, Bulla Tawakal and Bulla Rakhama.

The ministry has furher ordered immediate suspension of all land survey, adjudications, issuance of tittle deeds and transactions in the disturbed area until further notice.

Further, the ministry has ordered immediate recruitment and deployment of chiefs to the disturbed areas.

The ministry has invited elected leaders from the area to deliberate on peace restoration and lasting inter-clan coexistence.

Further the ministry has requested area residents to cooperate with the security agencies and to also share information on any suspicious persons and activities.

The curfew will last for thirty days.
