According to residents in the area where the restaurant is located, the restaurant is causing a lot of noise pollution because of the loud music that is played. Residents have also expressed their dissatisfaction with the restaurant and the inconveniences it causes them and their families.

The chairperson of the association stated that the management did not follow the prerequisite process when seeking to develop the property two months prior to its opening.

“We are aggrieved that The Summer House, which opened its doors two months ago, did not follow the prerequisite process when seeking to develop the property as is required by the law," the chairperson stated.

According to the association, it was wrong that the property was changed from a residential to a commercial without the authorities being notified.

“No public announcement in any daily newspaper was made notifying members of the public about The Summer House development,” the chairperson stated.

This comes a few days after Nairobi governor, Johnson Sakaja ordered the closure of nightclubs that were situated in the residential areas.

In a notice dated November 25, Sakaja ordered the closure of nightclubs from operating in residential areas following numerous complaints from the public on noise emanating from bars, restaurants, nightclubs, and liquor-selling premises.

Sakaja further stated that no nightclub licenses would be issued to premises operating in residential areas and added that licenses would only be issued to clubs within the Central Business District (CBD) and specified streets.
