The Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) has demanded an immediate investigation into the death of IEBC official Daniel Musyoka.

In a statement released on Tuesday morning, the human rights commission urged the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to act to ensure Musyoka and his family receive justice.

“We’re alarmed at the shocking news that Daniel Musyoka’s tortured body was found in Kajiado.We draw the much needed attention of the DCI, and ODPP to conduct swift investigations to secure Justice for Musyoka’s family,” read the statement.

Roselyn Akombe, a former IEBC commissioner, deeply grieved by the death of Daniel Mbolu Musyoka has called for an inquest into his death.

Akombe expressed her shock at the passing of the IEBC officer in a social media post calling him a diligent man.

“Devastated that the missing IEBC RO has been found murdered in a forest. I remember Mbolu as a diligent officer who dedicated his life to public service. I send my deepest condolences to his family, friends & colleagues. A public inquest into his death is urgent,” she wrote.

The Embakasi East IEBC returning officer left the workplace after accepting a call at around 9.45 a.m. on August 11 and never returned to the office.

He was later discovered dead on August 15, Monday night, dumped in a river in Oloitoktok, Kajiado County.
