Machakos Residents Want KWS To Curb Hyena Attacks

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is being urged by the residents of Muthwani in Machakos county to erect an electric fence in order to stop the invasion of wild animals that are assaulting their children, animals, and food crops.

Machakos Residents Want KWS To Curb Hyena Attacks

In a week a hyena attacked two children, a 13-year-old and a toddler.

The 13-year-old was attacked by the hyena as he was returning from a shop and is receiving care at Kenyatta National Hospital, while the toddler is at Machakos Level Five Hospital.

The Residents in Muthwani have complained that KWS takes too long to respond as a result of the problem of regular attacks by wild animals.

A resident stated in an interview with Citizen Digital that in a different incidence, a mother was attacked while attempting to protect her child from a hyena. She claimed the woman's face was irreparably scarred during the event.

The mother and infant were saved with the aid of the villagers, and the latter was taken immediately to the hospital.
