Man Arraigned in Court for Defiling His Daughter in Makueni

The individual is accused of committing the horrific act at their residence in Kibwezi Sub-County on Sunday, January 30 at around 6.30 p.m.

According to a report released on Friday by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Katumo took advantage of the girl as they were walking home from a shop and seduced her before raping her.

“Reporting to the police, the class five pupil at a local day school narrated how her father had restrained her hands along a stretch within Mikuyuni Teachers area, before forcing himself into the petrified girl,” DCI reported.

Despite the girl's calls for aid, the man went on and committed the act, even frightening her to remain silent, while plotting a cover-up by victimizing her fellow learner, according to the DCI.

“Outsmarted and sure that the girl was going to report his animosity, Katumo had threatened her with dire consequences, but realizing she had difficulty in walking, he further coached her to frame a fellow pupil at the school, a boy,” DCI noted.

According to the DCI, Nyumba Kumi officials who took notice of the news and made their way to the boy’s home in the company of the girl's father were intercepted by officers who apprehended Katumo after the minor exposed him.

“It was while privately with the medical team that the brave girl exposed her savage dad, who was at the time leading the Nyumba Kumi team to the home of the framed boy," read the report.

Katumo is being held in custody until his trial.

The DCI has urged parents and guardians to look after their children since these incidents are on the rise in Makueni County.
