Two Men Arrested For Robberies And Sexual Offences

The two, Kelvin Kipkemboi and Enock Kirwa have been linked to a series of sexual offenses and robberies in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.

The perpetrators were arrested over the weekend and will be arraigned in court today. They were found with stolen items and were positively identified by their victims.

The County police commander in Uasin Gishu county, Ayub Gitonga has confirmed the arrest of the duos

“Our officers arrested the suspects on Saturday morning following a raid conducted by detectives from our county police headquarters,” Gitonga said.

The offenders have been related to several sexual assaults on Eldoret National Polytechnic students. A recent incident occurred on March 26, when the suspects broke into a student's rental home and assaulted her. They are also suspected of defiling a 16-year-old girl a week earlier, according to police.

According to Langas neighbors, the accused are part of an armed group suspected of breaking into homes and drugging women and children before sexually assaulting them.

The police regard the arrest as a breakthrough since they have been involved in a crackdown to nail down the criminals operating in Langas and surrounding areas.

“We have been burning the midnight oil in pursuit of these dangerous machete-wielding criminals, who have been tormenting residents of Langas and its environs,” said a DCI officer.
