“Even whatever you post on those WhatsApp groups we’re monitoring them. Post anything that we feel may spread hatred and promote tribalism and we will deal with you,” the former Vihiga Woman Representative told the youths.

The NCIC commissioner also called on the youths to take the lead in avoiding politicians who are known to spreading hate.

“Don’t cheer at a leader who utters things that are aimed at causing divisions, once you do that you are encouraging him/her to continue making further statements that might end up causing political violence. If possible, avoid attending their meetings,” Kedogo advised.

She further said they are working with the Communications Authority of Kenya to help in tracking down hate mongers who will be out to misuse social media.
