Alex Jonathan Malel Arrested For The Abduction Of A Class 8 Pupil
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has reported the arrest of a 19-year-old Alex Jonathan Malel, accused of kidnapping a class 8 pupil.
Reporting on Monday, September 27, the DCI stated the suspect was arrested within the Engarika area, where the teenager was rescued.
based in Arusha, Malel was finally cornered yesterday morning at 2am, within Engarika area & the girl rescued. Tears flowed freely from the minor’s relatives and friends, as she was reunited with her distraught kin who have known no peace since her disappearance.

Alex was is currently at Mto was Mbu police station where he is cooling his heels.
"the class 8 pupil is rescued and the suspect finally brought to justice. Meanwhile, Malel is currently cooling his heels at Kituo cha Polisi cha Mto wa Mbu, kilichoko wilaya ya Monduli, Mkoani Arusha Tanzania, kwa kosa la kunajisi", DCI's report stated.
Malel, who is based in Tanzania, worked as a night guard at an establishment near the minor’s home.
The 14-year-old juvenile was kidnapped on August 25 while on her half-term Holiday from her parent's home in Nyeri county.
The school-going girl had stepped out of their house to answer a call of nature at 2 am when the incident occurred.
Nyeri Directorate of Criminal Investigation and the police officers from Mto wa Mbu in Tanzania have since then been on the lookout for the minor after the incident was reported to reported at Gatitu police by the parents.
