According to Oguna, some people have been receiving messages asking them to pay Sh. 100 in order for them to get the Huduma Namba Cards which against the government protocol.

“Huduma cards are free. Nobody should ask you to pay,” said Oguna.

Oguna said the people who registered for Huduma Namba will be receiving a text message from the Huduma Namba and not the normal telephone number.

In the first phase, 37 million Kenyans registered for the Huduma Namba and phase two will be rolled out in April 2021.

The issuance of the Cards has taken long pushing the Kenyans to question the exercise which was carried out in 2019.

Last month, Interior Security CS announced the ministry will be sending a short message to the registered people informing them of where to collect the cards.

The Huduma Namba is a part of the new identification which anybody aged above eighteen years can apply for as the National Identity Cards are phased out.
