'It's Not Disrespect, DP Ruto Was Also Interviewed,' Sabina Chege now says About Kalonzo Vetting.

Sabina Chege, the Murang'a Woman Representative, has denied that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party is disrespecting Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

'It's Not Disrespect, DP Ruto Was Also Interviewed,' Sabina Chege now says About Kalonzo Vetting.

Chege claims that the party's decision to subject Kalonzo to a vetting panel alongside other leaders for the running mate position was not intended to disrespect the former vice president, as has been claimed.

She noted that Deputy President William Ruto was also subjected to what was described as an interview before being given the UDA Party's presidential ticket.

Humility is a virtue; we saw the DP going for an interview and answering questions for him to be confirmed as a presidential candidate for his side,” Chege said at a local interview.

I don’t think that was something we can say was lack of respect.” Added Chege.

Chege stated that the Kenya Kwanza team's goal is to create chaos in the Azimio camp by inciting the Wiper leader to abandon his faction. She cited a Monday incident in which UDA allied leaders claimed Kalonzo was not recognized during the late President Mwai Kibaki's burial.

She attempted to reassure Azimio supporters of her efforts to negotiate that would result in the best leader among all applicants.

Makueni County Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior, who was also on the panel, reiterated the Wiper party's position that Kalonzo should be chosen as Raila Odinga's running mate without any vetting.

If you were to ask who Kalonzo Musyoka is, everybody knows Kalonzo. To subject Kalonzo to an exercise of telling us who you are… what you can do is unacceptable,” Mutula said.

The perception created is wrong, what are you vetting? DP position is a personal issue. Is a president in waiting… it will take us several election cycles to get to a position where you can be considered for deputy presidency position,” Mutula posed.

Mutula opined, citing Kalonzo's popularity in the country, that the Wiper leader had consistently outperformed expectations in terms of leadership ability and political command.
