Led by Kericho County Commissioner Kamau  Karungo, the gambling machines were confiscated from the areas of  Sondu, Ainamoi, Ngoino road, and Brooke.  According to the County Commissioner, they have constantly been pleading with Kericho residents to avoid gambling activities that breed idleness among the youth and destroy families caused by constant financial disputes.

‘’We are here at Kericho Police station to burn and destroy lotto machines that the government finds unlicensed. I assure you that Kericho will be a gambling-free zone because we have doubled our efforts to reduce these activities. I urge our security officers to keep up in handling the mushrooming of lotto machines. Today we're destroying 95 gambling machines brought from as far as Sondu in a crackdown by our security officers”,  said Kamau.

The County commissioner also blamed the rise of family instabilities for the gambling activities and has issued a stern warning that should anyone be found conducting the business without a license, they will face the full force of the law and their machines destroyed.
