A National Youth Service (NYS) storekeeper has found himself struggling with words to explain the source of his wealth in the NYS court case.

Appearing before Magistrate Eunice Nyutu, the storekeeper whose name is David Mbogo, told the court that he acquired his wealth through genuine practice.

Mbogo was testifying in a case in which former PS at the NYS Lilian Omollo and 30 other people denied corruption charges against them in the ksh, 226.9 million.  

Mbogo was required by the court to explain how he was able to buy a Lexus, Range Rover sport and Land cruiser cars and a piece of property in Ruiru that is valued at Ksh. 200 million.

Also, the storekeeper has worked at the NYS stores in Gilgil for over 16 years and is a key witness In the NYS scandal that implicates the Ngiritas Family and the other people at the agency.

During the court proceeding, Mbogo told the court that at one point, he received a call from an officer who identified himself as Mula from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters who wanted him to record a statement at the Headquarters.

Further, Mbogo told the court that on the April 5th 2016, he was called by a person identified as Evans Kundu who requested him that when he travels to Nairobi to see his Family, He could pass by to pick a document for him.   

“Upon arrival at the NYS headquarters I met Kundu in his office where I gave him the book which was sealed by Kagiri and proceeded to see my family,” Mbogo stated.  

The ongoing NYS court case has one of the key suspects Anne Ngirita being detained in custody after the withdrawal of her surety who had stood bond for her.
