Perfect Cumin Rice Recipe
Cumin rice is a popular dish in India and Pakistan often served with curries. You will need a few simple ingredients to prepare a dish of non-sticky, fluffy, and fragrant rice flavored with earthy cumin seeds and aromatic whole spices.
Ingredients
1 cup long-grain rice
2 cups water
1 bay leaf
1-inch cinnamon stick
5 cloves
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 green chili chopped finely
Salt
2 tbsp chopped coriander
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Procedure
Wash the rice a few times, and then soak it in enough water for 30 minutes.
Drain all the water from the rice and set the rice aside.
Heat vegetable oil in a pot, and add the whole spices, and cumin seeds to it. Once the cumin seeds start spluttering, add the chopped green chili and drained rice to it.
Toast the rice in the pan for two minutes to add more flavor to the rice, and prevents it from sticking
Add two cups of water and salt to the rice and mix well.
Bring the rice to a quick boil, and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook until all the water has evaporated and the rice is cooked through.
Garnish the rice with chopped coriander and serve hot.
