Police Investigate Suicide Cases Of Two Police Officers In Mombasa

Police in Mombasa are investigating suspected suicide cases on two of their colleagues. The incidents happened separately where the two officers shot themselves at their respective stations.

In one incident, an officer assigned to Nyali Police Station named Mr. Dennis Kamau Ndung'u committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a handgun while inside his room.

“The officer had committed suicide by shooting himself with a firearm while in his room at an unknown time. The scene was visited by senior officers attached to the police station and it was established that the deceased shot himself from the right side of the head and bullet exited on the left side using his official firearm,” read a report in part.

The deceased's body was moved to the Pandya hospital mortuary, for an autopsy to be done.

In the second incident, a police officer stationed at the Kiembeni police station in Kisauni, Mr. David Koech Kurgat, committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest.

According to a police report, two officers were patrolling the Bandari Sacco wall when they discovered the deceased's body lying in a pool of blood.

The body was taken to the Coast General Hospital mortuary for an autopsy after the scene was investigated by a crime scene analyst. There was no suicide note left behind by the deceased.
