Eddie Ndichu Steps Down from the Board of Association of Fintechs in Kenya

Following the viral altercation video that was said to be advocating gender-based violence (GBV) on women, Janet Mbugua's husband Eddie Ndichu was compelled to resign as a board member of the Association of Fintechs in Kenya on Tuesday, October 19th.

According to a letter issued on Tuesday afternoon by the board Chairman Ali Hussein and signed by the board secretary Munyi Nthigah, the board was taking note of the unfortunate allegations that were made against one of their member Eddie Ndichu.

“The board of the Association of Fintechs in Kenya {herein after} takes note of the unfortunate allegations made against our board member Eddie Ndichu following an altercation at a city hotel on Saturday 17th of October 2021. The allegations are now subject to public discourse, particularly on social media platforms.”

The board also continued saying “on the 19th of October the board convened a special meeting during which Mr. Ndichu stepped down as aboard member pending formal investigations into the matter.

“The board takes this opportunity to state that it regrets the current circumstances and does not in any way condone gender-based violence of any kind”.

The board further concluded, “the Association remains firmly committed to its objectives of ensuring utmost integrity and advocating for the well-being of the Fintech community and Technology industry at large”.
