On Saturday 28th August Sharon Obara was crowned Miss World Kenya pageant at The Trademark Hotel.

On Saturday 28th August Sharon Obara was crowned Miss World Kenya pageant at The Trademark Hotel. Government officials, dignitaries, and former beauty pageant winners were present. There were fifteen contestants competing this year for Maria Wavinya's crown from last year. She promises to use her position to advocate for mental health awareness. 

In 2019, Ms. Maria Wavinya was crowned Miss World Kenya and finished 12th at the Miss World finals in the United Kingdom. Due to the Covid pandemic, Wavinya’s stay in the Miss World Kenya office was extended.

ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru at the event promised that his ministry will support the youth. On Saturday Sharon took to Twitter and asked her fans for support.''I came to you asking for your support as I started this journey and you really came through for me.'' part of her Twitter caption read.

Now that she has won Miss Kenya Obara will represent Kenya at Ms. World finals in Puerto Rico In December. She will be competing alongside 141 contestants and could stand a chance to win 10 million Kenya shillings. For now, she received 250K from the Miss Kenya pageant.
