Glovo Rider In Court For Hitting Client

Willis Lwande, the rider, is accused of beating and injuring Hamza Abdirahman on May 29 at the Lavington area in Nairobi.

Lwande had brought Abdirahman's lunch order from Glovo. He took around ten minutes to go to the gate, where Lwande was waiting to hand out the food.

After an argument, Lwande allegedly struck the complainant in the face with his phone, wounding him below the left eye.

The security guards arrested Lwande after Abdirahman returned to the compound bleeding. The security guard detained the accused in the security sentry before he was taken to Muthangari police station.

The complaint was transported to a hospital and treated before being released.

Lwande rejected the charges before Resident Magistrate Jaqueline Onjwang and was released after posting a Sh100,000 bond and a Sh50,000 cash bail.

On June 29, the case will be called for a pre-trial hearing and the setting of hearing dates.
